Each year the Board of Agriculture provides a scholarship with the purpose to support agricultural
students who are Cumberland County residents that pursue a degree in production agriculture/
horticulture, agricultural education, agronomy, or related fields. Through this program the board wishes to encourage the scientific study of agriculture. Agriculture is no longer knowing how to plant and grow crops or raise animals. AI is now part of agriculture, and the role will continue to increase. Knowing how to manage remote equipment, assessing fields with drones for pest and fertility management, using lasers to control weeds, and developing mechanical planting and harvesting equipment are just some of the areas needed in the future.
The scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students. The application for the scholarship is
attached but make sure you submit the application by April 1!
