As we are moving toward the new year, now is the time to think about the new minimum wage for agricultural workers. Starting January 1, 2026, the minimum wage is $14.20 for agricultural workers and
$15.92 for regular workers. These wages will continue to increase over the next few years.
If you are using H2-A workers, there have been changes to the rates. As of January 1, 2026, there
are two skill levels for the Adverse Effect Wage Rates. Level I is for entry level positions at $16.05/
hr. Skill level II jobs require prior experience, certifications or technical knowledge which require less
supervision at $19.41/hr. There are also some adjustments based on the need to provide housing for
the H2-A workers. The adverse compensation adjustment rate for level I $13.77 and level II is $17.13.
These changes are meant to compensate growers for the added cost of housing. A grower should be
checking with their H2-A labor contractor with any questions concerning these changes.
